Actually, Follett fans may well find Jeffrey Deaver's Garden of Beasts much more satisfactory. Set in Nazi Berlin, the Feds send a Mafia button man to assasinate one of Hitler's key advisers. Whilst it lacks the historical depth of a Martin Cruz Smith novel, and some of the situations stretch credibility, the story moves at a satisfying pace and is really very enjoyable. As I've already said, it has all the best qualities of a Follett (let me add that I'm a fan of Deaver's regular thrillers as well).
