著者プロフィール

1940年10月9日、イギリス、リヴァプール生まれ。1957年にクオーリー・バンク校の友人たちとクオーリーメンを結成、のちにポール・マッカートニーとジョージ・ハリスンが加わり、ビートルズへと発展する。1962年6月にEMI傘下のパーロフォン・レーベルと契約、リンゴ・スターの加入を経て10月5日に〈ラヴ・ミー・ドゥ〉でレコード・デビューを果たす。1969年9月にビートルズ脱退をメンバーに告げると、同年3 月に結婚したオノ・ヨーコとの音楽活動を開始する。1975年からは主夫として第一線を退くも、1980年11月に『ダブル・ファンタジー』をリリースしてカムバック。それから約3週間後の12月8日夜、ニューヨーク市内の自宅前で襲撃されて死去する。
