All time favorite book series in elementary school. Grabbed my heart and didn’t let go. Was reading alllll day. I was happy to see it become a show, I quite enjoyed that too.

世にも不幸な物語。
3人のこどもたちが、突然、両親と住む家をなくし、見知らぬ遠い親戚と暮らすことに。
不幸に継ぐ不幸、幸せの兆しが見えても、すぐに潰されてしまう。
まぁ、救い様のないお話なんだけど、そんな中にもユーモアが散りばめられていて、読みやすい。
分かりにくい英単語は、文章の中で説明されているので、読み進めやすい。

続きも読んでみようっと。

とうとう不幸本に手を出してしまいました。

お金持ちで愛情と教養溢れる家庭に育ったBaudelaire家の
姉弟妹の三人が突然の火事で両親と家を失い、
遺産を狙う極悪非道の後見人Count Olafの悪巧みから
どうやって逃れるかを描いたお話でした。

三人が知恵を絞って、力を合わせて困難に立ち向かう姿が
健気なのですが、お涙頂戴ものにならず、
なぜかシニカルな笑いを誘います。

難しい語句は英英辞典のようにウンチクたっぷりに
説明してくれるというサービスも随所に見られます。

装丁が可愛いのは勿論、中の挿絵や文も工夫してあるのが可愛い。
思ったほど不幸な話じゃないので子供へのプレゼントにもイイ！
ジム・キャリー出演、ジュード・ロウ語りで映画化されたよね

I finished reading "Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events No.1" in English. Actually, I finished reading it one month ago, but I forgot to write the review in English. So, today I want to write it.

The book was my American friend's recommendation. While he was staying my house, we went to a book store near my house together. At the time, he suggested it to me. While he was showing the book to me, he told me that if I prefer the stories with happy ending, I shouldn't read the book because it doesn't only happy ending but also there are no happy things from begging to end.

After I heard his suggestion, I became interested in reading it. I've never read such stories before. The book is written for children, but I think adults also can enjoy reading it.
I really enjoyed the book, and I already have started to the book of No.2. Since there are 12 series, I would love to finish reading all of them.

While I was reading the book, I realized that I was encouraging the youngsters in the book in my mind. They are young, but they are very smart. It's really interesting how they conquer their problems by themselves.

子供向けシリーズ小説。3人の孤児にふりかかる災難の次々。ハラハラドキドキで読み始めたらやめられません。
