It depicts modern social malady although it was written way back in the old period.Great. This book triggered my love for foreign literature.

ト書きがおそろしく長く細かい。こんな長いト書き書いてもいいんだ！（笑）と、当時大学の演劇研で台本書いてた私は間違った方向へ勇気付けられた。ダスティン・ホフマンと若かりし頃のマルコビッチで映画化されてます。すごく良かった。

戦後の家庭のあり方が，この辺りで既に壊れてきたんだななんて思ったりする。とりあえず戦後〜現在までを通してあまりにこの本で表現されている内容が普遍的だからこそ，ココロで理解できるのかもしれない。

"American Dream"を信じ続けた一人の男、
交錯する家族・親友の想い、狂う歯車の回転。
漂う雰囲気はとても重たくて、ああきっとこの時代は
こういう人が多かったのだろう、そして、今も変わらず
このような家族はあるだろうとリアルな感想を持ちつつ読める。

授業中、本と平行してドラマも見たのですが
Dustin Hoffman演じる主人公のWilly Lomanの演技には
授業という概念を忘れて見入ってしまいました。1985年という
古さは何でもないものでした。

ラストは｢本当にそれが最善の策｣だったのかと嘆きたくなるほど。
けれどその時代｢ありえた｣話をArthur Millerは描いたのだと
思うからこそ、あれはあれで良い終わり方だったと思います。
