Oxford University PressのVery Short Introductionsシリーズの中でゲーム理論を扱うもの。ゲーム理論は進化生物学や経済学から心理学、政治学に至るまで多分野と関わりながら発展してきた。数式を使わずひたすら文章で説明するスタイル。よくある囚人のジレンマから遺伝的観点からのミツバチの性別割合まで、ゲーム理論の適用範囲の広さをたくさんの例を並べて説明している。
