多くの有機化学の教科書では、化学反応を官能基別に記載・解説しているが、この本では反応の種類別に解説している。このため有機化学反応を暗記ではなく、体系的・理論的に学ぶのに非常に適した本である。本書の第1版の訳書「ウォーレン有機化学」(東京化学同人)もあるが、第1版よりも章どうしの繋がりが分かりやすく、またネット上のデータベースとの親和性が強くなっている。有機化学の学習には最適な本である。(応用化学科)
