I did not know this story, however Leo Lionni was one of my favorite writer. This story was about six crows and the farmer. There was a wise owl. It told that it was important for us to talk things over for making peace instead of frighten each other. This book was not known well in Japan as well as Swimmy, Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse, or Frederick, it was very impressive story.
Life would have been happy were it not for six noisy crows who nested in a tree nearby.
But no sooner had he returned to his hut than they were back.
They huddled in their tree and wondered what to do.
they agreed to make a ferocious kite.
The scarecrow didn’t budge, but the farmer was frightened.
Its angry mouth seemed to grunt.
When she noticed that the wheat was wilting from neglect, she decided to talk to the farmer.
"What can we do now?" asked the crows, dismayed when they heard that the wheat crop was in danger.
We were dismayed at the news. 私たちはその報道にうろたえた.
The nasty grin had turned into a happy smile.
But when the crows saw the new menace, they gathered more bark and more leaves and built an even larger and more ferocious kite.
