  • I have so regretted that why I watched the movie first. This is the one that you should be supposed to read before watching the movie. But even after that, this book gave me so much inspiration and thought of the death. There are so many aphorism by Morrie if you want to check them out. I felt like that this gave me heavy assignment to think about death and life you currently have.

  • This book was written about Morrie, who had ALS and a young man talking on Tuesday. Morrie told some important facts that is inevitable for our life. That's nice.

  • is it a real story? i was impressed how important a teacher is for his/her students.

  • 1年前くらいに友達のブクログの本棚にあって気になり、読みたいと思っていた本。

"Are you at peace with yourself?"
"Are you trying to be as human as you can be?"
"Dying is only one thing to be sad over."
"You have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn't work, don't buy it."
"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in."
"To know you're going to die, and to be prepared for it at any time. That way you can actually be more involved in your life while you're living."
"If you accept that you can die at any time then you might not be as ambitious as you are."
    "Love each other or perish."
"Don't cling to things, because everything is impermanent."
"Neither money nor power will give you the feeling you're looking for."
"Offering others what you have to give. Your time. Your concern. It's not so hard."
"Devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."
"If you're trying to show off for people at the top, forget it. They will look down at you anyhow. And if you're trying to show off for people at the bottom, forget it. They will only envy you. Status will get you nowhere."
"Do the kinds of things that come from the heart."
"They don't know who they are themselves - so how can they know who they are marrying?"
"If you don't respect the other person, you're gonna have a lot of trouble.
If you don't know how to compromise, you're gonna have a lot of trouble.
If you can't talk openly about what goes on between you, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you don't have a common set of values in life, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. Your values must be alike."
Morrie believed in the inherent good of people. "People are only mean when they're threatened."
    "Be compassionate"
    "Love each other or die"
    "Forgive yourself then forgive others."
"You need to make peace with yourself and everyone around you."
"They have to be negotiated in loving ways, with room for both parties, what they want and what they need, what they can do and what their life is like."
