特に印象に残ったマララさんの言葉。
"They thought that the bullets would silence us, but they failed," she said. "And out of that silence came thousands of voices. The terrorists thought they would change my aims and stop my ambitions. But nothing changed in my life except this: Weakness, fear, and hopelessness died. Strength, power, and courage was born." 84ページより。

2013年7月12日、国連本部で行われたスピーチからの引用でした。このスピーチは"One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world."の一節が特によく知られていますが、本書がこの1文ではなく、上記の部分を引用したことで、マララさんの力強さが際立っているように感じました。
