2016年1月5日読了。かつて滞在した「Dolphin Hotel」の記憶、姿を消した元妻が落とす影、連続する殺人事件、謎めいた「Sheep Man」が投げかける「You gotta dance」･･･。昨年12月から読み続けていた、村上春樹作品の洋書版。うろ覚えで内容を知っていても時間がかかったが、当たり前だが英語で読んでもムードは共通で、とても面白かった。AkasakaとかKamakuraとか固有名詞は分からなくても、著者の作品が世界中で人気を呼ぶ理由はなんとなく分かる気がする･･･。ここで描かれる「昔確かに存在していたものが突然消失し、『不在の記憶』のようなものに付きまとわれる感覚」みたいなものは、洋の東西を問わないのかな。体力に余裕があれば、他の作品も英訳版を読んでみよう。
