  • This is a must-read to figure out the landscape of today's global politics. The core idea described over this book is that countries are no longer divided by their ideologies but by their civilizations. I doubt this single concept explains everything about how today's global politics work because there are so many factors affecting the chaotic circumstance of international relations. However this concept absolutely gives us an important insight to help us understand it.

  • The West is and will remain for years to come the most powerful civilization. Yet its power relative to that of other civilization is declining.
The post Cold war is a world of seven or eight major civilizations. Cultural commonalities and differences shape the interests, antagonisms, and associations of states.

Civilized society differed from primitive society because it was settled, urban, and literate.
