This book is a collection of 24 short stories written by American author, Lucia Berlin. She passed away in 2004. It’s original collection was published after her death. She has gradually gained lots of attention in many countries. Her stories are based on her own experiences. For example, there are stories about a cleaning woman, about alcohol addictions, about sister’s death, about prisoners’ writing classes, and so on. They not happy stories, but I enjoyed this book as her writing style is unique and different, and I was able to feel various kinds of people’s feelings through these stories. It is a nice and recommended book. (じんじんさん)
