最後にタイトルの意味が実感できる。

Not gonna lie, Lily’s decisions and thoughts made me frustrated at times as I believed that I wouldn’t make the same choices she did. But after reading the authors note it made me realise that it’s not all black and white, and how Colleen herself wanted to rewrite those scenes, yet stuck with it to keep it real.
It broke my heart that Colleens mother went through an abusive relationship, and the first incident of Ryle hitting Lily was the first incident of her mother experiencing abuse.

ロマンスものは普段読まないからどうだろうと思っていたけど話題になるだけある。どんどん話に引き込まれて読む手が止まらなかった！Ryleが必死になってLilyを誘うシーンにはちょっと引いてしまったけど。笑AtlasとLilyの関係性がとっても良かった...It Starts With Usも読もうか検討中。

タイトルになっている『It ends with us』…その意味が予想外すぎた。
思わず『そーゆー意味か！？』と息を呑んだ。
できれば、その意味を明かしたところで終わって欲しかったなぁ。エピローグないほうが良かった。

自分を傷つける相手となぜ一緒にいてしまうのか。
なぜ自分を苦しめるのに、相手を捨てることができないのか。

Beautiful でもあり、苦しくもあるストーリーでした。読む人によってはつらい一冊になると思う。

今年映画が公開されるそうだけど…観たいような、観たくないような。著者も言っているけれど、これはエンタメのために書いたものではない。
なので楽しむためのものではない。
主人公の運命が気になってページをめくる手が止まらない一方で、精神的に苦しい本でもあった。

The last part where Lily asks Ryle “what would you do if-“ questions broke me :’(
And the meaning of the title!!! Really made me gasp as I assumed it was about her and one of the guys. I’m glad Lily found the strength to walk out of the complex webs of abuse.
I’ve never experienced domestic abuse before, but this book did give me a feel on how hard it is to escape someone you think you love, how your mind manipulates you into thinking it’s okay, to keep our hearts from breaking when that in itself is what actually is breaking us.
The scrubs got me a little lol but team Atlas from the start :)

最初は若い男女のラブロマンスかと思いきや、途中でDV男と発覚、しかも幼少期に不本意に兄を殺してしまったことから暴力がストレス性のものであるといわれ、女性側もどうしようもできず。。。結局、同様にDVを受けていた母親に相談し、子供が生まれたことをきっかけに離婚を決め、女性が中学生？のころ付き合っていて、心通っていた別の男性と付き合うことになり、話は終わる。
正直、読んでいて辛かった。。。

少し前に流行った小説、一気読みには最適だった。
主人公のLilyはボストンで花屋としても成功してRyleという人と付き合うことになり、人生が良い感じに乗っていっているところに高校生の時に助けたAtlasと再会して、、
ザ・恋愛要素強め小説かと思いきやDVの描写が多く含まれているのが驚きだった。
正直最初は文章が幼い感じで違和感を感じたが、読み進めていくうちに話題になる理由は分かるな…と感じた。
軽く旅行やビーチで読みたい本だったが、また同じ作者の本は読まないだろうな…

First book that made me cry.

I thought it was just a romance book, which it was, but it’s more than that.

Lilly is a strong woman and I was really touched when she opened up to her mother and eventually talk about her mother’s relationship with her father.

One of my friends strongly recommended me this book, so I started reading it without knowing what it’s about.

“It ends with us”, the cycle of abuse and letting that break you and your family.

At first, it was a romantic novel and read on and off, but once I realized it is not a simple love triangle story, I couldn’t stop reading it. It is so weird because at the same time, some parts were just too painful to read.

Abusive relationships are not the ones without love. That is the hardest part.
It takes courage and strength to break the cycle. And Lily did for her daughter.
