素晴らしい本です。そもそも「なぜ政治が必要か」「なぜ選挙が大事なのか」というような「なぜ」の部分から始まり、日本の政治の授業では教わらないようなトピックが多い。
例としては、
多数決の欠点
選挙結果が捻じ曲げられるとき
投票する以外で私たちにできること・政治家にプレッシャーを与えること
戦争が正当化される場合はあるのか
良いメディア・悪いメディアとは
など。
日本語訳も出ているので、大人も子供も読んで欲しい。

In societies, not everyone can get heir own way all the time. They have to have a system so that they can make decisions and get along. That's why politics is so useful. p.5

In a big society such as a country, the answer to the question, 'Who's in charge?' is usually: the government. The government can be a single person or a group of people, but it nearly always has the final say in decisions about how the society is run.

All governments are different. For example, until the end of the 1700s, France was ruled by a king. People believed that the king's authority came from God.

In the Middle Ages, the town of Siena in Italy was ruled by a council of business people which changed every two months.

In Ancient Sparta, there were tow kings from two different royal families.

The Luba Kingdom in Central Africa was ruled by lots of chieftains and one king. p.10

The people in a gobernment need to have authority if they're going to tell everyone what to do, and trust that people will accept it. p.11

If a government is claiming to have authority, it needs to have a good reason - and that reason needs to be accepted by most (if not all) of the people in society. A government with both those things is known as a legitimate government.
Sometimes, people don't accept that the current government is legitimate, and want a change. They might protest, demand reforms, or start a revolution - which chould lead to a new government. p.11

今まで避けてきた、イデオロギーについての議論に巻き込まれつつあり、勉強のために購入。

子供用なので、見開き二ページで、各テーマについての内容が簡潔にまとまっており、カラーのイラストで楽しく読める。

子供はもちろん、政治から距離をおいていた大人にもオススメ

どうやって解決するか、を決める手続き、
とよく理解できる本。
