This book might make you think that you would have wanted to read this when you were in the middle of raising a kid. If I had read this book ten or fifteen years ago, I would have made every effort to make time to drive my kids to various lessons no matter what it would take or no matter how tired I was after work every day. Kidding. I know I, in my own way, did the best and the most I could do at the time to keep our life going and raise healthy, happy, and intelligent(in their own ways) kids. But, still, I can’t help thinking that when it comes to raising kids, I would have done some things differently had I come across ideas and insights presented in this book. As for myself, how I pursue my goal along with my passion align with what this book offers. Grit is making efforts toward your long-term goals, day in and day out. Sometimes you breaks down your ultimate goals into lower goals, like mid-term or short-term goals. Sometimes you have to modify some short-term goals to make them align with your ultimate goal. When I look back at my life and realize that what I do every day is small dots connecting with each other and making a coherent path, I really like this book.

アンジェラダックワースのテッドトークを見た後読んでみた。
やり抜く力が大事という事か。それは生まれ持ってるものなのかそれとも後天的に身につくものなのか。

目標に向けやり抜く力が持つ効果と、その力をどう育てるかを述べた本。やや言われ尽くしてる感のある内容で、あまり目新しさがなくそこまで興味深い内容ではなかった。
ただ、子供や後輩と関わり育てる身として、意識してみたいなと思うことをいくつか「思い出させてくれる(「新しく教えてくれる」わけではない)」という意味ではがんばって読んだ価値があるかも。
読み切るのにgritが必要な本。

サンプルを半分ほどよんだ。
やり遂げる人は才能とか成績とか関係なく、粘り強さを持っている？という話。1つ前に読んだthe Secret よりもマシかなぁとは思うけどやはり飽きてしまった。わたしにもGritがない。

I came to know about the book because one of my people gave me the tip of this book. And I'm so glad to read this. This book is basically telling us that all we need to live in the world is to be resilient and keep doing what you want and need to do. It will tell you what you need to work on it in terms of having the ability of GRIT.
Talent or geniuses will not give you satisfaction or success in your life, GRIT will give you that.
I love seeing in this book, Japanese old proverb saying "Falling seven times and standing up 8 times". It means that simply, our life has ups and downs and all you can do is to be bold and tough. Love the book.
