前半ではSystem1 = 直感= fast thinking、System2 = 意図的な努力を伴う思考=slow thinking という2つの思考の差異、特徴、補完関係などが事例と共に解説される。中盤から後半にかけて、System1とSystem2のメカニズムと行動経済学に登場する諸概念(Anchoring, Heuristics, Loss Aversions, Endowment Effectなど)の関連性が様々な事例を用いて説明されている。

かなりのボリュームがあるが、一つ一つのChapterは短い。また、事例も身近なものが使われており、数式等は一切使っていないため、経済学や行動経済学に関する素養がなくても理解できると思われる。他方、内容的には難しくないものの、学術書的な色彩は依然として強く、気軽に読めるという本ではない。学問的な厳密さを維持しつつ、一般向けに書かれた優れた啓蒙書と言えるだろう。

なお、ノーベル経済学賞の受賞理由にもなったTverskyとの共著論文が２本収録されている。

★６つの名著である。翻訳版が出たら、是非、お読みいただきたい。

It took me a lot time to finish this book. I remember it was my last year birthday present to myself. I took me almost 7-9 months to go thru every chapter.

This is a reading that make you understand human behavior and irrational better. Not just only that, author try to explain what is the mechanism behind it.

As it write on the preface, this book is all about shortcoming and irrational human behavior, but just like a medical book about illness, no ones is ill all the time.

Knowing about the shortfall, make you more prepare for it. Not that one could totally immune from it, but at least you know when the irrational behavior happen.

すばらしい。人生の10冊に入りそうなくらいの良書。もう一度読み返してから詳細を書きます。
