  • Today's "best practices" lead to dead ends: the best paths are new and untried.
Every innovation is new and unique. No authority can prescribe in concrete terms how to be innovative. But successful people find value in unexpected places and they do this by thinking about business from first principles instead of formulas.

These sentences above are given at the beginning of this book. After reading this book, we can easily believe successful people actually do.

What important truths do very few people agree with you on?: Most people believe in x, but the truth is the opposite of x.

This question is worth thinking. Because this seems to be the one which most people don't believe but actually is true and so be the key to the success.

There are so many useful tips written in this book. I've been doing a lot of thinking about starting my own business in the future. This book gave me the many new ways of thinking. He tells us the contrarian truths. I'd say they are surprisingly useful.

Especially what impacted me is the truth that we live under a power law.
→Monopoly business capture more value than millions of undifferentiated competitors.
= a small handful of companies radically outperform all others.
I kind of knew it, I think everybody kind of knows this truth. Think about dominant companies at the moment, let's say Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft etc.
What a brutal world, and Peter Thiel also said that the biggest secret in venture capital is that the best investment in a successful fund equals or outperforms the entire rest of the fund combined!! What the hell is that!! It's unfair but unfortunately quite true.

On the other hand, we can say if we read this book, we'll be conscious of those secrets and be more likely to succeed hopefully.
In fact, I feel them kind of right when I catch startup news in my daily life.

So this book will help us make our business more likely to success for sure.
    It's worth reading.
