1960年代初頭に出版されたノンフィクション。主に殺虫剤の環境における影響を綴ったものだが、当時は画期的な本だった。今ではかなり一般的に知られているものも含まれている。環境破壊は現在さらに加速的に進んでいて、この本を読みながら暗い気持ちになってしまった。
