■A little girl named Fern saves the life of a runt piglet named Wilber that is about to be killed. After that, Wilber grows up healthly in a barnyard. But he got to know that he is destined to be slaughtered at Cristmas time.
His only friend Charlotte struggles to keep Wilber alive with her wisdom and spinneret, realizing her days are numbered.
■The writing style was so concise that I could read easily. But the terms related to livestock farmers were not familiar to me at all. For example, 'trough', 'manure', 'slops', 'provender', 'scythe', 'rake', 'hoe', 'eave', 'downspout', 'crate', 'swath', 'sod'....and so on.
■Besides, a lot of creatures living in the barnyard are rather too bustling. They 'shriek', 'yell', 'grunt', 'holler', 'honk', 'groan', 'gasp', 'rattle', 'snarl', 'pester', 'moan', 'ramble', 'gabble', 'mutter', 'gulp', 'mumble', 'blat', 'bellow', 'heave', 'growl', 'chatter', 'squeak', 'giggle', 'sob', 'cheer', and 'roar with laughter'.
