I finished reading "The Alchemist" in English without using a dictionary. It's my seventh book this year.

I tried to read it two years ago, but I couldn't finish reading it. It was a bit more difficult for me to read without using a dictionary at that time. Since I enjoyed reading it this time, I'm very happy. I really think that I've been improving my reading skills.

The story was very exotic for me. I'm not familiar with Spain, Egypt and some Arabic countries. That's why I imagined about these countries while reading. I could travel around the countries with "a boy" (This is the main character in the book. ) He had a dream. While he was traveling around, he tried to make his dream come true. He sometimes tended to forget his dream. He met many interesting characters, and they remained him of his dream. This book taught me if people really would love to make their dreams come true, we have to follow our feelings. Our feelings relate to nature, God and many spiritual things. We also have to feel the spiritual things to make our dreams come true. I was inspired by the book. The story was very good.

実は何ヶ月か前に読了しているのだが、整理の為に改めて登録した。

この本は、古本屋でたまたま手にしたもので、著者についても、この作品についても予備知識がない状態で購入し読み始めた。購入のきっかけは、表紙の神秘的な絵柄（写真）と「錬金術師」と言うタイトルに惹かれたからだ。読んでみて詰まらなければ、途中でも投げてしまえばいいや、位の感覚で読み始めたが、ストーリーに引き込まれた。また、タイトルが示唆するように、何か内面性の様なものを感じさせるのも魅力の一つだと思った。しかし、物語が終わりに近づいてくると、次第に説教臭く感じるようになった。あから様に言うのではなくて、ストーリーを追って行けば自ずと感得できる様には書けなかったのか？面白かったのに、少々残念だった。

なかなか手を出さずに今まで来てしまったのだけれど、この本は是非また読み返したいと思う。読み始めてしばらくして震災が起き、様々な事に対する価値観が揺らいでいる時に読んだからこそ、効いた。そう。今をもっと大切にしよう。

大分前に購入したものの読んでなかった本です。
日本語訳を買おうとしてふっと洋書で持っていたと探しだしました。
ブラジルの作家なんですね。知らなかったです。

現代童話と言うのでしょうか。
1人の少年の成長物語、なのですが人生において大切なことは
物の見方なんだなあ、と言うことをしみじみ思いました。
やはりプラス思考で物事には向かっていかないとダメですね！

人が生きる上で大事なことはなんだろう。
お金ではなく、人のつながりだけではなく、何を成すかということも大事なんだなあ、なんて思いました。

すてきな物語でした。
