Finished reading The Catcher in the Rye...don’t really understand why it’s so celebrated among scholars (and others). Frankly it’s a bunch of monologues by a depressed teenage boy. Tell me what’s so good about it. Or maybe I’m not smart enough to capture the essence of this work? I don’t mean to offend any Salinger fans-it’s just, I simply don’t understand what in that book fascinates people so much. So Salinger fans, tell me what’s good and redeem him!
